2003 Walk & Roll Festival

May 19-24, 2003

The 4th Annual Walk & Roll Festival returns again, Monday, May 19 through Saturday, May 24, in conjunction with California Bike Commute Week and Clean Air Month. A week of fun events are being planned "to celebrate and promote walking, bicycling, and other diverse transportation choices for a healthier Ukiah Valley." All events are free and meet at various locations in and around Ukiah.

Events planned for this year include a family fun ride, free breakfasts for carpoolers, cyclists and walking commuters; a community leaders mileage competition, an errand race between cyclists and motorists, a wheelchair errand race, group walks, and affordable helmets for sale. In addition to walking and bicycling, “diverse transportation choices” include carpooling, riding transit, skating, and telecommuting—for a more active, healthful lifestyle and sustainable environment.

The festival is organized by the Ukiah Valley Walk & Roll Coalition. Sponsors include Ukiah Community Center, Mendocino Council of Governments, Mendocino County Air Quality Management District, North Coast Striders, Showers Pass, Inc., and other generous contributors.
